Back to School Shopping with Face Time

It is the most fun for this long distance Grandma to go back to school shopping with grandchildren in person.   When we visited this summer, we went early school supply shopping so we could share the experience with our soon to be kindergartener.

But, even long distance, we can go back to school shopping with and for our grandchildren thanks to technology.

This morning, our oldest grandson shared his new school sneakers with us on Face Time.  He is now too old to shop with us on Face Time, but still shares his new stuff.    It is great to plan Face Time when school starts to see everything new the grandchildren have in preparation for school.

Our next oldest grandson took us back to school shopping long distance.   He carried the I phone around the store as he looked for his favorite brands.  Grandpa and I got dizzy.  We suggested that he call after he had accumulated stuff to try on or buy.  This made for a much better experience.  We got to see how he looked.  He shared how much he did or did not like items.   Our two year old grandson counted fingers and toes with us while he waited for his big brother to try on, so we even helped to entertain the youngest on Face Time.

Sometimes, when I am at the mall, I will text a picture of something I see for the grandchildren to my daughters, to get prior approval before I buy, especially for my discerning granddaughter.

Our daughters give this Grandma  search missions.  If the grandchildren want an item they cannot find, they send me on the internet.   This is a great way to help our working parents of our grandchildren.  If the parents have time, we shop together.  We are on the telephone and searching on the net together.

Together is the operative word.  Long distance is no longer a barrier to being together thanks to Face Time and the internet.  We can share the grandchildren’s special events and preparation for those special events.  Whatever works to bring the generations together is such

Joy,

Mema
