Best of Boston with Grandchildren

Boston is a great city to visit with grandchildren.  Our grandson is nearly nine and we spent two wonderful days there.

The wharf area is the tourist area and where you want to stay as you can walk nearly everywhere or take the MTA or a ferry conveniently.  We were able to get a special rate at the Marriott Long Wharf.  Amazing hotel in an amazing location.

Our grandson loved eating at Faneuil Hall Market Place.  We had lobster rolls two days in row at Boston Chowda Company.  We had lobsters at Legal Seafood but remember it to be better than it was.  Summer Shack was recommended to us for lobsters but we never made it there.

Our best time was going to a Red Sox game.  We learned from another set of grandparents while waiting on line for the Duck Tour that you can secure great seats for less than face value the same day on stubhub.com.  A great tip!  We took the MTA along with thousands of fans and that was fun it and of itself.

Speaking of the duck tour, there are two companies who run the tour.  One is shorter and goes in the Charles River and the longer one goes into the harbor.  We took the Charles River shorter one as we were told it was the better one.  Our grandson, as did all the children, got to drive while in the river.  He loved it.

Grandpa took our grandson on the Codzilla ride in the harbor.  It was worth the price.

We went to the Aquarium and it really is not as great as you would have expected from the hype.  I would skip it.

We were very busy, tired and happy.  Our grandson wants to return to do more.

If you have time to do a lot, a Boston City Pass is worth the money.

Next time we want to do the Museum of Science, Children’s Museum and the Constitution.

Boston is a city you can return to often.  We can’t wait until next summer’s trip.

Joy,

Mema
