This Grandma’s favorite Passover recipe to make with grandchildren is chocolate covered matzo. This recipe comes from my oldest grandchildren’s other grandma and is a family favorite each year. Remember to cover your kitchen with old towels for easy cleanup. Remember to take lots of pictures for the annual picture album.
Chocolate covered Matzo Candy
6 sheets of matzoh
12 ounces semi sweet chocolate bits
2 sticks of butter
1 cup sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the matzoh on the cookie sheet and break the sheets to cover the cookie pan completely. Melt the butter and sugar in a pan and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Boil for about one minute. Pour the mixture over the matzoh and spread evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the chocolate bits. Wait one to two minutes and as the chocolate melts, spread evenly over the caramel mixture. Refrigerate until firm. Before serving, break into small pieces.
