“The Lion King” live stage musical is the most successful production of any work in any media in entertainment, and it deserves to be. It is having a run around the country and it is a great treat to enjoy with grandchildren, and introduce them to a live theatre musical performance. Yes, since 1997, when Lion King opened on Broadway, Disney has an ongoing hit, moneymaker and industry. We can buy the original 1994 animated movie, one of the highest grossing animated musical movies on Amazon in various formats.
There are books and coloring books for every age, including infant, on Amazon to introduce our grandchildren to the joy of reading the fabulous story of the Lion King.
There are Lion King toys and stuffed animals.
There is even a Lion King themed nursery that can be created.
And, why not start now at birth! After all, the first animated movie of Lion King is up for a remake, due to be in movie theaters July 2019, and a newborn will be just the age to see the movie as a toddler when it is released.
The cast for the animated remake has already been announced, and the stars are spectacular. We can build excitement for Beyonce as Nala, Simba’s childhood friend who later becomes his partner. James Earl Jones returns as Mufasa. Others who have signed on included Donald Glover who will lend his voice to and play Simba; Chiwetel Ejiofor as Simba’s brother, Scar; Alfre Woodard will play Sarabi, Mufasa’s wife and Simba’s mother.
The only caveat is to always check Common Sense Media before introducing anything such as the Lion King to your grandchild.

Common Sense Media recommends introducing Lion King to age six and up. However, there are so many ways to prepare grandchildren for the remake before July 2019. There is plenty of time to introduce the story in print, and possibly providing the opportunity for the grandchildren to see the stage performance.
Most of all, we can mark our calendars for next summer, summer 2019, and reserve our grandparent space to be the first to take our grandchildren to what is expected to be the greatest Lion King extravaganza yet.
