This Grandma LOVES www.toyportfolio.com. The Oppenheimer Toy awards listed on t he website provide mountains of ideas to buy gifts for grandchildren for every occasion or no occasion. As stated on the website, “Educator, parent & kid testing goes into each product considered for an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Award. We don’t accept ads or charge “review fees” from manufacturers or publishers, so you know you’re always getting independent opinions.” Yes, they test the toys, books, and videos on children of the age the toy, book, or video is to appeal to. Yes, the recommendations have been winners with our grandchildren.
If there is a new baby in the family, they have the newest recommendations.
If you are looking for a toy that you played with or your children played with to share with your grandchildren, they have the recommendations of the best.
The toy award winners are divided by categories of age group, and this Grandma tries to buy the platinum award winners each year for birthday presents, holiday presents and visit presents. Take a look.
Yes, the Oppenheimer Toy Award winners are a one stop shop, and they have a link to Amazon to make shopping easier. Of course, cross check prices on google and retailmenot for coupon codes.
Recently, however, this Grandma, looking for nap mats, came across a new website, Zulily.com. I had never heard of it, but signed up as it appears to be the new variety of website that has flash sales, and you never know what might come up for sale.
Then, the Skimm, my new news source, let me in on the secret of zulily.com:
“WHAT TO SAY TO YOUR CO-WORKER WHO’S ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A DEAL… Retailers love a sale too. Yesterday, Liberty Interactive – the company that owns home shopping network QVC – said it’s buying e-commerce site Zulily for $2.4 billion. Zulily is a shopping site that’s basically like Gilt for new moms…meaning it’s all about that flash sale. Its growth has slowed recently, but it still has a younger customer base – women from 25-45 – that QVC wants access to. Badly. Done and done.”
So, the Skimm, a news source for women from 25-45, tells the back story of a new website for women from 25-45. Zulilly carries toys, children’s, maternity and other clothing and even housewares. A flash sale has bargain prices on specified goods in a specified amount for a specified period. This Grandma was recently looking for lined crocs. Zulilly had them, but not the coveted Darth Vader or the Superman for this season, so be forewarned. I look at the Zulilly site as window shopping and if they happen to have what works, the website works.
Pass Zulilly along to the parents of your grandchildren and you too can seem hip and smart.
Show them toyportfolio.com for the best of the best.
Forever young with
Joy,
Mema
