Cookie Stuffed Brownies to Bake with Grandma

This Grandma accidentally stumbled on the one sweet recipe that is going to make the parents of our grandchildren cringe.  However, it is going to make our grandchildren jump for joy.

Imagine brownies stuffed with chocolate chip cookie dough and Oreos!  And, the recipe is an easy dream.  A win-win for grandchild and grandma.  Maybe make it when parents are not around.

I was watching the Today Show on NBC March 20, 2014 and Tara Bench of Ladies’ Home Journal joined TODAY to show us some easy new baking tricks–the best was cookie-stuffed brownies.  You can watch the video here.

You need only your favorite refrigerator chocolate chip cookie dough, Oreos, and your favorite brownie mix.  First, follow the directions on the brownie mix package and set aside the batter.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a greased brownie pan, layer first the cookie dough.  Cover with a layer of Oreos.  Cover with the brownie batter.  Follow the directions for baking the brownies.  Bakes for 15-20 minutes.

Remember to cover your kitchen with old towels before you start any cooking or baking project with grandchildren to make cleanup easy.  Let the grandchildren who can read share reading the recipe out loud.  Divide up the measuring and mixing jobs.

Cleanup is aways a breeze with grandchildren.  Put more towels around the sink and floor

and let grandchildren clean bowls.  I usually have them take off as many clothes as I can–unless the clothes are already covered in leftover batter.  Yes, the younger grandchildren will clean the bowls for an hour if you let them.  Soap and water are great fun.  They might not need a bath after!

Milk and cookie stuffed brownies for dessert!  Cookie stuffed brownies are perfect in every way.  Fun to make.  Fun to eat.  Delicious fun for grandma and grandchildren with

Joy,

Mema
