If you had to choose a month of the year to be Ice Cream Month, July would be it. National Ice Cream Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in July. The celebrations were signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on July 9, 1984 with Presidential Proclamation, according to Wikipedia.
Wikipedia also tells us that “[e]ven though the resolution only mentioned a specific month and day in 1984, the celebrations have held up in the years ever since, publicized by ice cream manufacturers.” That makes sense, although this Grandma does not think that any American needs a proclamation to celebrate ice cream and buy and eat lots of ice cream in the month of July.
What is new in the ice cream front for celebration in 2018?

As a chocoholic, the No Churn Extreme Chocolate Ice Cream recipe caught my eye first. It fits in my desire, and created profile, for fast and easy, with only my requested few ingredients of five and twenty minutes, but with the calorie count of 840 calories per serving, I decided unhappily not to bother looking further at the ingredients or directions. Yes, I probably will look at the link I am giving you sometime in the future, but not while I am trying to lose weight to fit into a specific dress for my only granddaughter’s Bat Mitzvah.
Then I looked at what would be one of Grandpa’s favorite, No Churn Oreo Cookie Ice Cream. It is evil at 1010 calories per serving, although only has four ingredients and can be made in 20 minutes.
Scrolling down choices, I found a No Churn Chocolate Ice Cream recipe that is easy and only 420 calories per serving, but takes TWO HOURS to make. Maybe I could use some of those calories up in the two hours while making the ice cream. Yes, here is the link to the recipe. Read the comments to this and other recipes on Yummly as, with this recipe, someone lists how to make this ice cream recipe low fat and less calories.
